I have a passion for designing and building.
Most of my designs are of biomass cooking stoves and appliances for people in developing areas.
Indoor air pollution (IAP) and deforestation are a serious problems for about 2 to 3 billion people that depend on wood and other biomass to cook their food.
I want to use stove designs to help by reducing IAP and by reducing the danger and work of gathering fuel.
I also want to use stove designs to increase human capital and enable microenterprises.
Some of my designs are also useful to people in more affluent areas, for out door cooking, as well as for camping, emergency and disaster situations, homestead survival, and off-grid cooking.
I will add more designs as I go, so check back often.
This is my latest design
Most Efficient Stove?/Bamboo Fired Bean Cooker 01
Cooks 7 kilograms of pinto beans with only 700 grams of bamboo as fuel.
Lanny Henson demonstrates the efficiency and functionality of his very efficient biomass fired cooking stove, a bamboo fired bean cooker, by cooking 7000 grams of pinto beans with only 700 grams of bamboo in the
“Bamboo Fired Bean Cooker 01”
The new burner in this stove holds 6” long bamboo canes horizontally. By burning the canes horizontally I am better able to control the rate.
My last burner used smaller pieces of fuel, which took more work to cut.
The cooking process involves three phases.
First the flaming combustion stage,
And after gasification there is a charcoal simmering phase, using the charcoal left over from the bamboo.
And after the simmering with charcoal, the pot module is put into a thermal or retained heat mode to finish cooking the beans.
I am pleased with the Bamboo Fired Bean Cooker 01 but it could better utilize the charcoal.
I will address this problem with the next prototype. Check back often!

I am self funded so any size contribution will help!
“100 Meal Cooker”
I am working on a very important project I am developing a 100 meal cooking system. I will tell you more as I go. This is an off-grid cooker.
I am at the beginning of the prototype stage and
I need help funding this design.
I am self funded so any size contribution will help!
I have tested a new burner for the stove.
Check out the mixing of the combustion air without a fan! The sound is not the wind, it is the burner!
I am confident that this will be a significant design so please help me move it forward!
